"the overwhelming desire for profit. it's asounding. ignore the environment. ignore human rights. it was the illogicality of it that i couldn't get my head around."
-isabel losada, a beginner's guide to changing the world
i am so infuriated, ashamed, sad, enraged, tearful, despondent about this race we call humans. i am reading the above mentioned text, and i don't know if i can take the truth and reality of this world...it is so sad to see the neglect, the greediness, the lack of compassion on the parts of our brothers and sisters that inhabit this planet with us. changing this world seems so out of my reach, so unattainable, but lord please break me so that my heart aches as yours does towards your lovelys'.....i so long for people to love each other, to see each other as equals, to rage at the injustices that plague mankind. lord, give me strength.

yes, i agree.
it can be so completely overwhelming. at times it is too much for me and i almost break down...
i think the comfort i find is in creating beauty and Love in my own life- trying to BE the change i want to see...sometimes i think that is the best we can do.
and maybe it's enough.
but then again, i feel that pull, that urge, that need to get up and DO something. it is a hard thing to try to balance.
something i have really struggled with since my trip to Mexico.
have you read Thich Nat Hahn's "Being Peace" ?
oh! and a new musician you need to hear- Hope Shorter. in particular listen to "Rain Won't Last." it is beautiful. and so, so relevant.
