adult

i just finished reading a chapter entitled 'adult.' the author uses the marriage relationship in order to paint a picture for how a relationship with god should be: two individuals that unselfishly love one another and do things to please the other out of love and respect, not out of fear or duty. ok. i can imagine how that works, but until you are in a marriage relationship, how can one truly understand all that means and entails. i have thoughts about how marriage should look and smell and function, but until i am married, i don't think that i will truly get it. all i see now is the 'honeymoon' part of the marriage. i have no concept for the whole picture. all i see is the good parts. what about the unpleasant, dirty, messy, painful parts? i can see that marriage is the closest we can get to understanding a god human relationship because that is the closest we can get to that type of unselfish, totally committed, sold out, die for love. god pursues me as i would a possible mate? even more so.
